Il GIAT è impegnato in ricerche che riguardano:
- discorsi pubblici di candidati alle elezioni politiche e amministrative;
- discorsi pubblici e istituzionali di alte cariche delle Stato (Presidenti della Repubblica, Presidenti del Consiglio, Presidenti di Camera e Senato);
- discorsi pubblici e istituzionali dei Presidenti di Confindustria;
- documenti istituzionali degli Atenei italiani (Statuti e Rapporti dei Nuclei di valutazione);
- letteratura italiana del secondo Novecento;
- testi accademici e letteratura scientifica internazionale;
- testi medici e comunicazione sanitaria;
- traduzioni (articoli di giornale, opere letterarie).
Il GIAT sta sviluppando strumenti per:
- rappresentare il profilo lessicale di un autore/parlante o di gruppi di autori/parlanti;
- riassumere in un testo breve i tratti distintivi di un autore/parlante;
- riconoscere i contenuti che distinguono autori/parlanti o gruppi di autori/parlanti;
- riconoscere i testi più pertinenti rispetto a un argomento;
- riconoscere il grado di somiglianza tra profili lessicali di autori/parlanti;
- rilevare le tendenze lessicali in corpora diacronici;
- valutare il grado di somiglianza tra testi;
- valutare ipotesi per l’attribuzione d’autore.
GIAT is involved in many researches concerning:

GIAT is developing tools to:
- Represent lexical profile of an author/speaker or groups of authors/speakers
- Summarize in a brief text, the main features of an author/speaker
- Recognize the typical features of an author/speaker or groups of authors/speakers
- Recognize the most distinctive text on a specific topic
- Recognize the similarities among lexical profiles of authors/speakers
- Observe the lexical trend in diachronic corpora
- Consider the similarities among texts
- Consider hypothesis on authorship attribution
